Three's the Word

Dearest Ava,

I realized today that I am not as quick as I was last year in writing you a birthday letter. In two days you will turn three, and just like that your age will finally match the number you have been telling people for awhile. If someone would have given me a glimpse at the tiny person you have become three years ago, I wouldn't have believed that you were mine. You look like your dad, but you are so much more than either one of us- thank goodness!
You're mostly funny mixed with a whole lot of stubborn, sensitive and sweet. You're smart, attentive, and busy, always busy. You're lovable, friendly, and especially chatty. You've managed to crawl your way out of the crib and into a toddler bed shortly after your last birthday. You've decided to try potting training when Emsley did, but didn't fully commit until this past summer when you finally agreed with me that princess undies were way cooler than Pull-Ups. You've made it past just feeding yourself, and are now helping me cook in the kitchen. You've manged to put on your own shoes on the right feet 70% of the time. You've figured out a way to negotiate wearing your hot pink sweatpants and Vikings shirt on the weekends. You've mastered walking up and down the stairs, all 14 of them, in your dress-up heels. You've become obsessed with all things Disney Junior, including the dreaded PJ Masks show. You've proven you can put together most puzzles on your own, and you still make the best towers out of blocks or Legos. You've discovered the fastest way to make your playroom look like a tornado zone, and you're still learning how to clean up after yourself without help. You've got a little sister coming, and you are already showing us just how good of a big sister you will be.

In the past, I have included lyrics from one of our songs, and this year wont be any different, other than it is has become your song from your favorite movie. I hope as you get older these words will mean even more to you. Looking forward to what another year will bring sweet girl-
Love,
Momma

You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged, oh I realize
It's hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
The darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small
Show me a smile then
Don't be unhappy
Can't remember when
I last saw you laughing
This world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
Just, call me up
'Cause I will always be there
And I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful
I see your true colors
Shining through (true colors)
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful
Like a rainbow
Ooh ooh ooh like a rainbow
Ooh can't remember when
I last saw you laughing
Ooh oh oh
This world makes you crazy
Taking all you can bear
Just, call me up
'Cause I'll be always be there
And I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid (don't be afraid)
To let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful
Like a rainbow
Ooh ooh oh like a rainbow
